The name D.O.M. stands for Deo Optimo Maximo — "To God, most good, most great" — a tribute to the monastic origins of this extraordinary spirit.

A Secret Recipe Half a Millennium Old

Its origins trace back to a 1510 monastic elixir by Dom Bernardo Vincelli in Fécamp, Normandy. Today's recipe, closely guarded and known by just three individuals, blends 27 botanicals — including saffron, angelica, hyssop, juniper, citrus peel, vanilla, cinnamon, myrrh, thyme, and honey — distilled in copper stills and aged up to two years in oak.

The making of Bénédictine takes two years and requires all the skill and know-how of the Master Distiller, who safeguards the secrets of this slow and exquisite preparation.
