Aberlour 12 Year Old is a Single Malt Double Cask, that is to say, a whisky that has been aged twice.
Firstly, this version was aged in Bourbon casks for 11 years, before being matured in ex-Sherry casks for the final year of its ageing. The Single Malt is then bottled unfiltered to preserve its flavours intact.
This double ageing gives the whisky its deep character and well balanced taste. There are also a few notes of Sherry which punctuate the tasting.
Tasting notes:
Colour: A beautiful golden colour with ruby red highlights.
Nose: Round and soft, the nose offers beautiful fruity notes.
Palate: The intensity of the sherry is accompanied by notes of cocoa, toffee and spices.
Finish: The finish has warm and intense smoke notes.
This Double Cask is ideal as an aperitif or digestive, and we recommend that it be drunk dry, with a little water or on ice.
